You are totally right! Five corporations control most of the media. Media consolidation totally limits the minority's ability to get a message out there. Especially when that message is at odds with a sponsor's message.

My confidence is declining. The FCC is reviewing policies, and there are some good activist organizations out there, such as Commercial Alert. I am proud to have signed their petition to stop covert commercials on TV!

The "public" airwaves system is broken; it can't be fixed. But those minority messages will still be heard. The internet is the new medium for those messages, and these messages are being shared with increasing effectiveness.

Anthony,

I agree with your comment: "Mainstream media may be unable to deliver a certain viewpoint because it would cause corporate sponsors to pull funding."

In the mainstream media, raw information is manipulated to create a story that sells. The facts are this there, but the positioning of the story creates untruths. Quotes, for example, are frequently taken out of context for this purpose.

Community media on the other hand, is largely created by the general public and people can just make stuff up.

Anthony,
This is really a great site. Expand it, write more and create a community of like-minded people. It seems that you have a balanced view of the media in general. They can certainly do harm and also they educate and entertain. The Internet seems to be dominating our media landscape, doesn't it.

You crack me up. I watch the show, too, but you are off the hook and deep in. What about Criminal Minds. I love that one. After House (for entertainment purposes) that is my fav.

I don't like the way things worked out with Zack as dupe/villain--it doesn't feel right. Will give the writers a smidgin of credit for symmetry: the episode begins with a fake death and ends with a metaphoric one.

I stopped watching Bones awhile ago(pre-strike). I just couldn't take it, anymore. They were throwing B/B too much in our faces, and not giving us enough of the overall ensemble cast. And, not enough character development or plot, at all. However, there is so much going around about the season finale, and when I found out what happened, I was disgusted. Everyone wants to blame FOX and the writers strike. I say that's all BS. The show runners and the writers are to blame for this terrible piece of work

I agree that they should have ended with a cliffhanger and came back with a two-hour season premiere ending the Gormagon arc. Nooooo. You know what they chose to do instead? Give you guys an awfully written show with no logical explanation as to what is happening, getting rid of a fan favorite and major character, all in favor of coming back with a two-hour season premiere taking Booth and Brennan to London. Are you kidding me? Yeah, there's going to be a lot of action and great storytelling in that episde. I don't think so. BOOOOOOOORRRRRRRING!

They totally killed the show. Hart Hanson insulted every single fan. I don't understand. Bones was so good in season 1 and half of season 2. Then, it just went downhill. They just completely threw everything out of the window in season 3. This is unforgivable and I am so glad I stopped watching it, earlier.

I agree. They had been building up to something good, but the way they scrambled to end that arch was insulting.
